It's not about something, It is about nothing!

Prelude: I would be left searching for words when somebody asks me what I got from Inner Engineering or other Isha yoga programs. I end up blabbering about my health (read weight loss, no back pain) and a calmer mind, while internally I would feel, I am not even saying anything close to what I truly got from it. This is an attempt to verbalize what I feel.

My sharing: Almost a year back, I took this yoga program called Inner Engineering offered by Isha foundation. Ever since the day I got initiated to the simple 21 minute practice, there was something in me that changed totally that I was not able to put my fingers on. All I could sense was that this practice which was handed over to me is invaluable. That my mind was totally chatter free right after the practices and the fact that I lost 40 pounds over just a couple of months and got healthier everyday was very encouraging and I kept on to my practices regularly.

Every now and then, I look back to see what is it that has changed in me, what is that which has caused such a vibrant health and a life that is happening effortlessly. Several times, I could not explain it to even my closest friends what it was and why I am asking them repeatedly to join this program or at least the intro talk. Today, just after my evening practices, suddenly it popped that happiness and the way I experience it has changed. It is not that I was not a happy person or anything. I was a very happy person with a great family, wonderful friends, fantastic job and good personal and active social life. No complaints!. Only thing is previously, happiness always had to be something that I achieved, something that made me proud, something I bought, something I was recognized for, something.

Whereas now, after attending this program and being regular with the practices, the happiness I experience is not associated with anything. It is about nothing! Just knowing that it has nothing to do with what I do or don't do gives me so much more freedom than I have ever experienced before. Now, when I do or pursue anything I do not depend on it to give me happiness. Just realizing this made me feel absolutely fantastic.

Such a huge possibility, how could I even begin to tell.. if you can just take a few hours from your schedule to listen what this is all about, you can see what it is. I am sure, then, you will resonate with me.

I will be most delighted if you make it to one of the free public talks by Sadhguru, the founder of Isha foundation. His life and work serve as a reminder that inner sciences are not esoteric philosophies from an outdated past, but a contemporary science vitally relevant to our times.

Hibiscus and the swing

A bloomed hibiscus with the backdrop of the wooden swing just in front of the lodges offer an excellent place to sit and enjoy.

Point reyes

.. Where weather changes from bright and sunny to misty cold in a matter of minutes, .. where the high cliffs meet the pacific and acclaimed to be the windiest place on the pacific coast of US

.. guardians of time, that they are.. bear the brunt of the mighty winds.

.. maintained and managed by dedicated and knowledgable park rangers .. live in the nearby quarters year long

.. beautiful flora all along

... the roaring ocean (hardly pacific !!) pulverizes the shells before shoring them

... high cliffs and roaring seas

... seagulls soaring high in the skies

...home to the famous lighthouse that was built in 19th century

... where the great Californian gray whales migrate through each year from the frigid waters of Alaska to bask in the warmth of Baja California for food and reproduction.

The place was well worth the drive.

Point Reyes seashore

A man was taking the picture of the Point Reyes seashore atop the cliff with his view camera and I included him and his camera in this picture.

Honey!, what's for lunch?

- Let's order sea food!!
