Moon rise in bonneville salt flats

Wendover is the first exit on I-80 E in Utah from Nevada. The sight that welcomes you from the desert land is vast salt lands that extend to the horizon. We entered Utah at 6.30(Pacific)7.30(Mountain) just when the sun set in the deserts behind us. We stopped for a while at a rest area near the Bonneville salt flats.

Day 1 Nevada and Utah

Nevada is called the silver state. Nevada is a huge desert, wide open desert and a whole bunch of casinos all over the place.

Day 0 San Jose to Lake Tahoe

Our first stop was at Lake Tahoe. Since we arrived at Lake Tahoe only at 11.45 in the night, we explored the area today. We rode a seadoo on lake tahoe for half hour. We had heard from our inn manager that the water at Lake Tahoe is so clear that you could see hundreds of feet inside the water. The water was not cold at all. That came to me as a surprise given that the lake is at an elevation of 6000 odd feet (6285 ft). The water was blue (celsum blue :)). Earlier we had been to a place called inspiration point vista overlooking the lake from a point above the emerald bay.

Star of India

When I was staying in SA, my friend living in SD was kind enough to drive me to his place and went on a city tour. I completely enjoyed the tour. The maritime museum has a seemingly inconspicuous looking ship docked. The Star of India...This is supposedly the oldest sea ship built in Ramsey shipyard in circa 1863 AD. More on this ...

A glass of wine is all I need ...

... to see things clearly ;-)

View of a vineyard in Kelowna through a wine glass on display.

Golden couple on golden gate

This weekend, we were taking a walk on the golden gate and saw this old couple walking with their arms interlocked... engrossed in a conversation with unspoken words relying on the life they experienced together :-)

Yours truly...

Shadows are interesting subjects ... simple, lacking details, yet obscure, dark, has mystery written in every pixel of it.. No wonder eclipses scare people

I had a dream ...

There is something unclear, vague, murky about dreams.

Is this how I see people in my dreams? Or is this how I remember seeing them? Oh! maybe because I was not wearing my glasses :-)

Hallowed corridors of Stanford

Stanford chapel in my dreams ...

Thanks to the proximity of Stanford from my place, I visit the campus often. The last time I was there I wanted to experiment a few things.. I tend to believe that the intentional out of focus brings alive the symmetry of the corridors and a dream like feeling.. Not sure if I was successful :-)

On highway 1

Even on a bright sunny day, this amazing place was void of tourists but for a modelling/photo shoot out session going on near the shores.

Footsteps in the sand

Tree near point Reyes

Point Reyes is one of the windiest place on pacific coast. These trees are a living proof.

Hmm ...

This is a photo of my friend. I took it since I was captivated by the backlighting effect of the bright sun on him but on second thought, I also like the composition.

Rocky ridges near Pacific ocean

CA Highway 1is a true paradise. Running along the Pacific coast of California, it has several points where the vast ocean meets and greats the mighty mountains each claiming attention.

Bird near Ano nuevo State Reserve

Ano Nuevo state reserve is on the calfiornia state highway 1 (around 55 miles south of SFO). It seems elephant seals, sea lions and other wild mammals come ashore. (Usually from Dec until March). We were at the wrong time of the year and all we could see was this tiny little chirping bird. The bird was very dynamic and was preparing its flight hearing our footsteps by here and there for about 5 s. Here is what I could capture (lens flare adds to the mood in the first photo given that I see them all the time when viewing through my glass)

Another shot of the bird this time without the lens flare. The hue of the sky is also unwashed

Butterfly

Notes about the picutre:
I steadied the camera on a tripod inside my room and set the exposure to about 3 s, set it in timer mode and exposed the shutter while positioning my self in front of the camera and waving my cell phone. I tried to get a figure resembling the Lorenz attractor and the result was close enough :-)
